Design concept
The Vessel is a community-focused concert venue and open-air market hall that bridges over a significant creek and park in the CIty of Duluth, MN. Utilizing the creek as both a backdrop but as well an interactive piece of nature in which the concert stage is set within the boundary of the creek to enable water and elements to become props for performances. While the market hall acts as the true vessel or ship above, inspired by Viking churches, the market's shell is in the form of an inverted ship hull.
